Born and raised in Radom. After high school married Onufry Rzemiecki, had two daughters, worked in Poland through the German occupation and after the war. Travelled to Canada in 1961 on the SS Batory. In 1977 married Sewer Buckiewicz (below), volunteered for years in the Committee to Aid Polish Children. Died aged 75.
Her sister, Wanda Szczawińska, lies in grave no. 69 [lot C1 647C].
Sewer BUCKIEWICZ
( 1910-2002 )
Born in southern Poland, studied engineering at the Lwow Polytechnic. In 1939 made his way through Romania and France to England, where he served through the war in the Polish air force, together with his brothers Jerzy and Tadeusz. Was a pilot in the #318 Fighters' Reconnaissance Squadron and received the Virtuti Militari Cross, the highest distinction for bravery. Emigrated to Canada in 1949, to work on a farm near Renfrew, Ont., with his wife Nella née Knoll, a physician, and their daughter Ewa, as well as his two brothers. A second daughter, Zosia, was born there. In 1951, the family settled in Montreal, where Sewer worked as a mechanical engineer in Domtar inc. and Nella had a large private practice as a beloved family doctor. Some time after her death, Sever married Leonarda (above). He died at the age of 91.
