Kazimierz BRAUN
( 1903-1959 )
Born near Krakow. At age 16, took part in Poland's defence against the Bolshevik invasion, and in 1920 was awarded the Cross of Valour. Graduated in Mining Engineering in Krakow, owned and managed stone quarries. Was injured in an aviation accident in 1938, so could not take part in the defence of Poland against the German invasion in 1939. However, he managed to get to France with his family, then to England in 1940. Served in the Home Guard during the German bombardment of London. Founded the Association of Polish Engineers and Technicians. He was engaged in educating and retraining Polish war orphans and ex-servicemen in England and Scotland. Emigrated to Canada with his family in 1952. Died aged 56, mourned by his wife Barbara and their two children, Beata Maria (later Baird) and Wlodzimierz-Kazimierz.
