Born in Scotland, daughter of Zbigniew Wacek and Halina née Liebich (below). Krysia came to Canada with her parents when she was a year old. In spite of a serious spinal birth defect, she courageously completed the Sacred Heart School of Montreal, graduating to study painting at the École des Beaux-Arts. Died at the age of 20, mourned by her sisters, mother, grandmother and friends.

Born in Warsaw, daughter of colonel Andrzej Liebich and Maria née Byczkowska. During the war, Halina fought in the clandestine resistance (ZWZ and AK) against the German invaders, took part in the Warsaw Uprising in 1944. Was imprisoned in the Oberlangen concentration camp. After liberation moved to Britain, completed Edinburgh University's Medical School and married Z. Wacek. In 1948 emigrated to Canada with her family. Beloved mother of Krystyna (+1967), Barbara and Magdalena. In 1970 married her second husband, lawyer Marian Lewandowski (+ 1975), Canadian representaive of the Polish government-in-exile. She died in Montreal at age 82.
